Tryouts Information

Please Read… Procedure for Students Making an Athletic or Academic Team

The mandatory Parent/Guardian meeting for any child making an athletic or academic team will be held each quarter after tryouts are complete. You will not have to attend this meeting more than once a year but you will need to attend all coaches meetings for each team your child makes. Meeting dates will be as follow but are subject to change: 1Q Sept. 6; 2Q Nov. 20; 3Q Feb. 6; 4Q April 10 at 5:30 p.m.

Physicals

Physicals for the 2023-24 school year will be August 15 at Larkspur Middle. There will be no other physical date the rest of the school year at Larkspur. You must take advantage of this date or go to your own doctor. Make sure you use the new VBMSL physical form (Updated May 2021). This is the only form that may be accepted.

Times
- Girls: 4:00 p.m.
- Boys: Around 4:30 p.m.

To Participate on a Sports Team Students Must Have

A new (must say Updated May 2021 in the left corner) Middle School Physical Form that is signed and dated in ink by a parent/guardian. Physical forms may be picked up at any middle school or found on our website.
Physicals must be performed on or after May 1, 2023
A Recreation Physical Form is not acceptable.
Students may not be 15 prior to August 1, 2023.
The physical form must say Updated MAY 2021 upper left corner. Older forms will not be accepted.
School Entrance (blue form) Physicals are not acceptable.

Fall Tryouts

Football

Football tryouts will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 16th.
Activity buses will be available to pick students up and drop them back off near home. Wednesday 8/16 students must have a ride to school for tryouts. From that point on buses will be available to take students home and bring them to practice. See below for the rest of the activity bus info.

Girls and Boys Soccer

Girls and Boys Soccer tryouts will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. starting Monday August 21st.
Activity buses will be available to pick students up and drop them back off near home. Monday 8/21 students must have a ride to school for tryouts. From that point on buses will be available to take students home and bring them to practice.

Activity Bus Information

Activity buses will not run until the first day of school due to the lack of drivers. Students will have to be dropped off and picked up for tryouts.

Please be aware that activity runs are not like the regular bus runs. Students may have to walk up to a 1.5 miles to get home. Students should be at the bus stop an hour early the first day to catch the bus. Routes will be similar to years past.

Students not trying out for a team are not permitted to ride the activity bus or watch practices.
Tryouts are closed to all spectators!

Activity Bus Disclaimer

We have yet been told we will have all activity buses to cover our zone. If we don’t have enough buses, parents will need to provide transportation. Please pay close attention to information sent out by Dr. Singletary-Johnson.
